4 Energy Efficiency Tips for Fall

Who doesn’t love a crisp, cool fall day? Just because the temperatures are falling doesn’t mean your energy bill has to increase! Fall into savings and stay warm this season with these easy energy efficiency tips.

Turn it Down

Bumping your heater down even one or two degrees can help you save money on your electric bill. House feeling a little chilly? They call it “sweater weather” for a reason! Now is the time to bust out your warmest sweater or a cozy pair of socks.

Don’t forget to turn your water heater’s setting down as well. Most water heaters’ default “warm” setting is 120 degrees Fahrenheit, which is plenty warm enough for most.

Curtain Call

Routine Maintenance

Ideally, you should have regular maintenance done on your heating system during the fall, before you really need it. Check to make sure your pipes are free of rust, your heating vents are cleared out, and your chimney is clean. Don’t forget to change your furnace filter once a month as well.

Heat Leaks

Did you know air can send your electricity bill up over 20% during fall and winter? You might as well be leaking money. Seal up any drafty windows or doorways with weatherstripping to ensure your heated air stays inside where it belongs – and cold air remains out!
